As a member of the Charlotte Area Independent Schools (CAIS) assessment team, I provide cognitive evaluations that support the admissions process for local independent schools.
Testing Overview
Students complete standardized cognitive assessments designed to help determine their school readiness and overall learning potential.
For Rising JK/TK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade Applicants
Children in these groups are given the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence—Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV). This one-on-one assessment typically takes 45–60 minutes.
Please ensure your child is at least four years old on the day of testing.
For Rising 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Applicants
Students applying to these grades are administered the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children—Fifth Edition (WISC-V). These sessions usually last 60–90 minutes.
Note: Some psychologists may not offer the WISC-V.
